It's Been Awhile

Oh Boy! First let me be the last person to welcome you to 2011, I hope yours has been great! A lot has happened to me over the past 2 months that I just need to get out and vent-so I hope you're up for some reading! :)

I found a new job at a local casino (I think it is in my previous post). That was going well until the week before Christmas where I become very ill. I caught a cold-no big deal. Then, I began vomitting and other things for about 2 weeks. I thought I had caught the flu on top of my cold. Now, just starting a new job, I did not call in once-because I knew that was the kiss of death!

After nearly 2 weeks of vomitting and "D", I called my doctor and had to be seen in the urgent care for severe dehydration and get on some major antibiotics. I called in the next day because I literally and physically couldn't make the drive to work. They said it was no problem and to do whatever I needed to take care of myself. After about 4 weeks of enduring those symptoms with no relief, I went back to my doctor. He decided I needed a Colonoscopy and a GI Test to rule out ulcers, etc. I was having pain after I ate so I had been on the BRAT diet for that entire time. On the positive, I've lost over 20 lbs!

The Colonoscopy is just awful. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I had to be out more time from the casino and again, they said NO PROBLEM, do whatever you need. So, I took one day off. Last Friday, very early in the morning, I woke up out of a dead sleep in severe pain. Jason rushed me to the hospital, where I was told I needed to have my gallbladder removed. I called into work rather Jason did because I was doped up) immediately and had surgery that same day.

I am still recovering and quite sore from that ordeal, but I am on the mend. I called my work today to fax them my doctor's note and much to my surprise, nobody answered the phone at my boss' desk, the senior VP of HR's desk, or my supervisor's desk. I finally kept calling and was told today that my position was being resigned because they can't hold my job. I understand all of that-but WHY oh WHY would you lead me on for the past few weeks telling me it's all ok when you were just going to let me go anyway?

I feel much better having gotten that out. They want me to apply again in 2 weeks and they'd love to have me back-WHAT?! No thanks.

Here's the kicker: Back in October, I interviewed for an HR job at Coors Brewing Co. Turns out I was just underqualified, but the woman was very impressed with me. She said she would refer me if something came up. I didn't think twice about it until last Wednesday when I got a call from Coors. She said I came very highly recommended and she'd love to interview me. I went in last Wednesday & it went great! I got a call 15 minutes after I left asking if I could come in Friday evening for a second interview. YES! Now, of course, Friday was the day that my evil gallbladder came out. I called her and explained my situation and she said that "For the right candidate, they would reschedule."

Today was a rough day-losing my job and all, so this afternoon, I get a call from their corporate office and I am being extended a job offer--no second interview, just on the spot! I happily accepted and will start in a couple of weeks!

I can't believe how God leads you to things, and brings you out the other side. I didn't expect this at all, but I am so grateful things happened the way they did. I am focusing on taking care of myself-and working on getting Jason entered into Sainthood, he's just wonderful. oxo

So, that in a large, bumpy nutshell is what's going on with me, hopefully, I will have much less to report on later-until then...Happy New Year!

Getting Back Into My Routine

I have to admit that these past 2 weeks have been very stressful, emotional, depressing and humbling. There are many more words I could use to describe them, but those come to mind immediately.

I went back to work on Saturday which was nice. I work in HR for Super Target and it's always nice to see the people you work with every day. Jason and I have been spending some much needed time together whether it is watching a movie, having dinner or just playing a game.

I am just going to come out and say what has been going on-I am not a big fan of keeping secrets. I'm realizing that this is not easy for me to talk about-even now...I had a miscarriage. I was approximately 9 weeks pregnant (after 6 years of going through fertility treatments without success) and this happened on it's own-which was indeed a gift from God.

Unfortunately, the pregnancy was not viable and it had to be dissolved. The process was gut-wrenching-but I know that God brought us to that fire and walked through it with us.

We have amazing friends, family and complete strangers who have said prayers for us, sent flowers, cards, letters without even knowing our struggle with wanting children. We know that we had to go through that for a reason-we may never know.

We are grateful for the chance to even have children at all-and for me it was incredible to know what it was like to be pregnant.

This has been the most difficult thing that we have had to go through and I know that couples go through far worse than this every day. My prayers go out to those who struggle and that one day (no matter what the method) get to be parents.

Thank you for reading this, and we are wanting to accept what has happened and move past it-never forgetting what God has in store for us.
