Weeds and more weeds

Today Jason & I ventured out in our back yard to pull the waist high weeds that have invaded our garden. We have been slackers (I must admit) about pulling them thinking...we'll do it when it's cooler or it's raining, we can't do it today! So this morning we gathered the trash bags, gloves, shovel and any weeding tools we could get our hands on. We worked hard in the heat of the morning for a good hour, then we both thought we were going to pass out from heat exhaustion, so we decided we'd wait until it got a bit cooler. To make a long story short, we got 3/4 of our garden weeded out and tomorrow we willl finish up. We will take a trip to the local nursery and purchase tomato plants, zucchini, cucumbers and squash. We know we are a bit behind in doing this, but at least it's still May, right?! Happy Memorial Day folks!

ahhh nature

We got back from South Dakota yesterday afternoon. We had a great time, it was way up in the Black Hills, no cell phone service, minimal people and buffalo roaming the highway. We stayed 3 nights in Keystone, SD which was a quaint town, very small. The speed limit was only 20mph in town. I challenged Jason to get out and run next to the car to see who would win, no dice there. We ate at the locals favorite restaurants, took in the scenery, did some wine tasting, toured caves, saw all the wildlife and just relaxed. The next 2 days, we spent in Deadwood SD where we gambled. It was so much fun. It was like taking a step back in time, the old west. The picture of Mt. Rushmore was absolutley breathtaking. They had this night ceremony where everyone gathers and they tell you the history of the carving, and at the very end, they retire the flag, and ask all service men/women to come up and assist. It was very moving. It's good to be home, we had a wonderful time and we highly recommend this trip. :)

We're goin' on a road trip!

Ahhhhhh...we're finally off of work and we're going on vacation. I don't know why but it really feels like I need it. It'll be so nice to get out of town and see all sorts of new sights, the monuments and just not have to worry about life for a week. We'll recharge our batteries and come back with stories, pictures and souveniers. I'll be sure to post pictures and tell you all about our experiences. Look out South Dakota, here come Jason & Heather!

Happy Mother's Day

It is a beautiful Sunday morning, it's Mother's Day. I want to wish every mother out there a Happy Mothers Day. Those new to motherhood, those who have been mothers for a while and those who are just motherly a wonderful day, especially my own. I love you mom, thanks for being so good to me. xoxo

Love us...love our cats.

Here I am contemplating what to write as Jason picks a fur ball out of Belle, (I guess it's better than her dry-heaving for 2 hours to get it out) She's the one inside the kleenex box. She absolutely loves boxes and bags and the laser pointer. Chip is the little guy looking like a gremlin in his kitty bed. He drinks out of the water faucet anytime you head towards the bathroom and will beg you to pet him at any given moment. He's our 'lover' kitty. They're both terrified of people. We can clap our hands and make them jump 3 feet in the air. They love to cuddle (at their convenience, of course). We thought we'd introduce them since they're the ones who keep us entertained when we're most bored and cuddle up with us in bed at night purring just loud enough to send you into a deep sleep...

Do you ever wish the week would just END?

First...thank you for reading our blog, Jason just pointed out how much he doesn't like that word...BLOG. So my solution is to call it "Deep Thoughts with Jason & Heather". I'm so happy to see the comments...keep 'em coming! I have the worst case of spring fever imaginable. It's snowed here recently and now we're finally warming up.I can tell you that with the weather being warm and sunny here it makes me wish I could escape to the ocean and curl up on a great beach chair with a very good book. I always find it hard to focus when it's so nice outside. I want to be home doing yardwork, doing arts & crafts and those kinds of things. Jason & I are gearing up for our vacation to South Dakota (woo hoo!) We leave May 18 and we're very excited to stop in Deadwood, SD for a couple of days to get the gambling bug out of our system! Then we're off to see Mt. Rushmore, the caves, the wildlife and all the tourists. It will be good to get away. It's only about a 7 hour drive from here. I'll post pictures (if I can figure out how). I could barely figure out how to post a second blog.... More to follow...See ya!

My attempt at this blog business

Well here I am, writing my thoughts out for the whole world to see. It seems the easiest way to keep in touch with everyone, giving them access to read my inner-most thoughts at any given time. Although, I guess I would have to give them the link, huh? Jason is over at Bible study at our neighbor's house tonight, he'll be surprised to know his 'computer illiterate' wife made us a blog page. Next, I should re-wire the TV or something fun...who knows! I'll be sure to update this regularly with my random thoughts and maybe some fun pictures. I have to thank Orice for suggesting I do this, it does feel really good. :)
